A DIN 137 spring washer – curved or corrugated – is designed to secure screw connections by providing an additional clamping force. Due to its shape, these flat washers are elastic and generate spring forces when tightened, maintaining a continuous preload on the connection. Placed between the nut and the material, corrugated or curved spring washers absorbs shocks, vibrations, etc., ensuring a reliable connection. These washers are ideal for high-load applications in the automotive, construction, and mechanical engineering sectors, for example.

Spring washers to DIN 137 from ETTINGER: corrugated or curved

Type A U-shaped washers (curved spring washers) feature a bend on one side and a narrow outer diameter, making them suitable for components with large contact areas. Type B (corrugated spring washers) have an asymmetric figure-eight shape and generate a higher clamping force, making them ideal for evenly distributed loads and for preventing the screw from penetrating the material.
