Nuts

Nuts are used in electronics production, for example, together with screws or threaded bolts to mount circuit boards in an enclosure. With their internal threads, they are the counterpart to the screws or spacers. Most nuts have a right-hand thread; however, in certain cases, nuts with a left-hand thread or reverse thread are used.

There are numerous applications for nuts, including in the mechanical engineering and automotive industries, amongst many others. Assembly is often automated in series production; however, it can also be done by hand. The most common types of nuts are hex nuts because they can be fastened using a standard wrench. Square nuts are often used in electrical engineering or enclosure construction, among other things, and are fastened with hexagonal screws.

The type of nuts required depends on safety considerations, weather conditions, and other technical requirements. They are mostly manufactured in high quantities using a cold-forming process. Certain types of nuts are also produced using hot forging, turn milling or thread rolling processes. ETTINGER manufactures customized nuts from drawings, even in small quantities, using CNC-controlled precision turning machines in order to achieve high quality requirements and international standards. Depending on the customer's requirements and application, a surface coating can be applied to ensure better durability, e.g. an electroplated coating for corrosion protection.

Nuts in numerous designs

Our product range includes a large assortment of nuts in standard designs as well as compatible screwswashers and standoffs. In addition, we also have an extensive division dedicated to custom production and made-to-order parts. As you would expect, we are also experts in large-series production. Please do not hesitate to contact us!

In addition to standard hex nuts such as DIN 439, DIN 934, DIN 6334, DIN 985, and ISO 4032, we also have a selection of other nuts available in our product range, e.g. cap nuts (DIN 1587, DIN 986), square nuts (similar to DIN 562), knurled nuts (similar to DIN 467 and DIN 466), KINGNUT push-on nuts, cage nuts, wing nuts, locknuts for cable glands, sheet metal nuts, nuts with a head, and self-locking nuts.

We have large quantities of nuts in stock and available immediately, including standard hex nuts to DIN and UNC, nuts with fine threads, self-locking nuts, slotted nuts, pre-assembled nuts with washers (standard washers and spring washers), pre-assembled nuts with tooth lock washers (type DIN 934), serrated flange locknuts (DIN 6923), locknuts with flange and polyamide insert (DIN 6926), grommet nuts, blind rivet nuts and many more.

We also offer self-clinching nuts and rivet nuts. We can supply nuts with a left-handed thread, drive-in nuts and many other types of nuts specially on request. We are happy to provide you with a customized quote – get in touch to find out more!

You can buy nuts with the following thread types in the ETTINGER online shop:

Most of our nuts in thread sizes M1.6, M2, M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, M10, M12, M16 and M18 and with a Width Across Flats of 4 to 24 are made of steel. We also supply nuts made of brass and plastic.

Steel nuts are divided into different strength grades using the numbers 4.6, 8.8 and 12.9. This makes it very easy to determine their tensile strength (first number; 4.6) and yield strength (second number; 4.6).

For use in corrosive environments, stainless steel is also worth considering in addition to brass and plastic. The most commonly used stainless steel grades for nuts are A2 and A4. The A stands for austenitic steels, which have excellent ductility, resilience, and corrosion resistance. The number indicates the type of steel. A2 is used as standard, whereas A4 stainless steel nuts are used, for example, in coastal regions because of the high salt content in the air. A4 nuts are also used in areas near chlorinated water (which contains acid) and in the food and chemicals industries. Order you chosen version easily online, even in high quantities!

In contrast to stainless steel nuts, a protective coating (e. g. galvanized steel) is required on normal steel nuts if they are used in corrosive conditions. We offer different surface treatment finishing processes.
