Screwed or bolted connections that are exposed to increased loads can be effectively secured against loosening with a toothed lock washer. These washers have serrated teeth that bite into the material. This creates friction between the toothed lock washer and the material as well as the nut or screw, resulting in a form-fit, firm connection. Toothed lock washers are used wherever vibrations and shocks could easily loosen the connection. For example, this includes:

Industrial applications (aerospace, shipbuilding, mining, oil industry, etc.)
Electrical engineering and electronics industry (electrical connections, enclosures, switch boxes, etc.)
Civil engineering (bridges, steel structures, buildings exposed to wind and other loads)
Automotive industry (engines, mountings, brakes, and other highly stressed components)
Mechanical engineering (dynamically loaded screw connections during use)

Compared to the related fan washers, the locking function of toothed lock washers is less pronounced. Although their holding force is lower, toothed locked washers are less likely to scratch the material's surface.

In addition to DIN toothed lock washers, we also supply narrow toothed lock washers with internal teeth. They are suitable for securing light and thin nuts, as well as for connections that only allow a low tightening torque, such as in materials like plastic or Bakelite, and in switches, potentiometers, etc. We supply these washers as standard in A4 stainless steel, alkaline galvanized, in black or galvanized, for threads M6 to M12.

Other versions such as countersunk toothed lock washers for countersunk screws, combination nuts with toothed lock washers, and internally toothed lock washers to DIN 6798 are also available from stock or on request. Please contact us if you require custom designs!
